Talib Kweli (Full Live Band) – “Hip Hop Saved My Life”

December 17, 2012

This Friday at the MID, come celebrate the alignment of the planets with a very special performance by one of the most prolific hip-hop artists of all time – the Brooklyn bred Black-Star member, Talib Kweli! Kweli will be backed by a full live band, for a one of a kind, high-energy sonic experience. The show will also feature a 1 on 1, free soul dance battle with a $100 cash prize! Limited tickets are still available, head to Clubtix for more information.

Ever since emerging as a member of Black Star in the late 1990s, Kweli is one of the few artists making commercially viable music that matters. The Brooklyn bred rapper’s hard-hitting music has been able to educate and entertain simultaneously. So it is no wonder that at the peak of their fame, both Jay-Z and 50 Cent named Talib Kweli as one of their favorite rappers. Fans currently prepare for the release of Kweli’s new LP, Prisoner of Conscious, which Kweli is set for release sometime early 2013. The first single of the record entitled, “Push Thru” featuring Curren$y and Kendrick Lamar, proves Kweli’s impressive prowess and his transcending talent and relevance within today’s hip-hop world.

His tracks are laden with deep, intricate, and intellectual lyricism that prove to withstand the test of time and rise above generic hip-hop fads. Kweli is a forward thinking musician who has been pushing the boundaries of hip-hop music throughout his entire career by always collaborating with a wide range of artists, and uses distinctly innovative production to back his deep lyrics. He is without a doubt one of hip-hop’s most original and consistent artists. The set on Friday is sure to feature exclusive, unreleased material from his latest album, presented as a unique live performance and backed by a full live band! This is not one to be missed and since the world may ending, be sure to make it out the MID and let hip hop save your life!
