As HARD Summer 2017 has come to a close and Dirtybird Campout approaches on October 6th, Claude VonStroke is one busy man. Not to mention his label, Dirtybird Records, being named Mixmag’s Label of the Decade last month. The bird boss recently released his new collaborative two track EP Works Well With Others, featuring Will Clarke and Sebastien V.
In an interview with Billboard Dance, VonStroke touched on his recent collaboration with his label-mates, “I get a lot of stuff in from the guys on our label, and sometimes I’m like, ‘What if they just did this and this and this?” says VonStroke, “I never used to do any collaborations, but I had just done this hip-hop project under my real name [Barclay Crenshaw] where it was almost all collaborations and I got over the hump. And I’m like why don’t I just do some house stuff with our guys? So a couple beats came in — Will’s thing was a lot more finished, but I just rearranged and moved stuff around. I didn’t even go to the studio, we just kind of went over email and the phone and stuff like that and it just came together really quick.”
The EP’s first track, “Tiny Tambourine” features Will Clarke and Sebastian V in a lighthearted upbeat banger while the second track, “Daylight Dark Room” features Clarke again which is comparatively ominous with a heavier bassline. Collectively these two tracks formulate that distinct Vonstroke/Dirtybird recipe of percussion and bass fans have become accustomed to.
