Never play with knives. Unless of course, it’s a Knife Party. What a better way to cap off the Saturday night of Halloween weekend in Chicago than a second dose of hottest producers currently in the game – Knife Party. So, if you just couldn’t get enough of their set at North Coast Music Festival, React welcomes Knife Party to the intimate setting of the MID, Saturday October 27th, for a second set in the official Freak Deaky after party.
Referred to by the duo themselves as ‘seizure music’- Knife Party’s explosive and ferocious sound is auditory murder with a set of turntables and mixer. In the best way possible, of course. Formed in 2011 by Pendulum members Rob Swire and Gareth McGrillen, the duo seemingly appeared out of nowhere and almost instantly took over the EDM world by storm. Their Debut EP – 100% No Modern Talking, released in December of 2011 and shattered top record charts all across the globe within mere days after its release. A true testament of the music’s quality – the EP even broke into the iTunes Top 10 charts in the UK and Australia, despite being available for free download on the Knife Party website.
Their music draws inspiration from a plethora of genres including electro house, dubstep, moombahton, drumstep, and many more. The duo set out to experiment with the fusion of electro and dubstep, creating a harder, dirtier, and more dance floor driven sound. Their razor sharp productions are infused with wrenching basslines, screeching synths and dynamic progressions. The duo slice and dice listeners’ minds and bodies with their intoxicating and pulsating bass heavy sounds that are crushing and hypnotizing dance floors all across the globe. With tracks like “Internet Friends”, “Tourniquet”, and the infamous collaboration with the Swedish House Mafia, “Antidote”, its no surprise Knife Party were so quickly able to rise to and stay atop the game.
In recent news, Knife Party announced last week that they will soon release a new track and video with Dim Mak label boss, Steve Aoki, titled, “Pile Driver”. Knowing these three producers, if the record sounds anything like the title suggests, it will surely be something to look out for. Steve Aoki told MTV News recently, “I wrote probably my phattest banging record with Knife Party: ‘Pile Driver,’ “.
Fans will hopefully catch a sneak peak of the new banger during Knife Party’s set at the MID, if their lucky. More information and tickets are available at Clubtix.com. Early arrival is strongly suggested.
