When it comes to Nora en Pure’s music style, nothing is quite as sultry sounding and distinctive. Through the incorporation of organic sounds like ocean waves and rattling stones, she creates an encompassing vibe that the listener won’t want to escape. Her warm and nostalgic songs are layered yet simple and form an atmospheric element that evokes a sense of being immersed in nature.
As the majority of EDM producers and DJs are men, it’s refreshing to see such an established female at the forefront of such a pleasant and peculiar sound. Her formula debunks the standard of bass booming beats that predictably build, break and drop.
Growing up playing instruments and listening to classical music, Nora en Pure or Daniela Niederer was not exposed to electronic-based music until friends introduced her to software music production. After experimenting with such using piano, flutes, violin, and natural sounds Nora manifested her current light-hearted rhapsody that parallels a range of genres.
In an interview with EARMILK, Nora touched on her refined sound “Other genres interest me as well, but I have always liked calm, elegant, raw, nature-infused but also funky music. Nothing too loud or that might appear to some people as noise. Maybe that is because I also got into electronic music when I was actually listening to rock and classical music.” she says, “Movie soundtracks also fascinated me. So I tried to incorporate many instruments and I feel that makes my music more accessible to people that are maybe not too much into electronic music.”
After releasing a breakthrough track with her rendition of ‘Shades Of Grey’ that was released on Spinnin’ Records and was premiered on Pete Tong’s BBC Radio 1 show her career propelled to the Top 10 of Beatport’s Progressive House chart with her euphoric 2016 track “Diving With Whales.” She has since maintained her standing in Deep House hitting the Coachella, Electric Forest, Tomorrowland stages this year and we can’t wait for her to grace the MID on August 12th, presented by Body Language!
