November 9, 2012

Friday, November 16th, The MID and React present a very special edition of MAYHEM AT THE MID – Trap vs. Juke – featuring some of the hottest ghetto tech, booty house, and juke artists for a booty clappin’ evening of footwork music. Artists include key innovator of Chicago Ghetto House and Juke, DJ GANT-MAN, Dance Mania Records owner, DJ FUNK, DJ GODFATHER, and MID Resident DJ ZEBO! The event will feature the “Face Down Ass Up Booty Contest” for a $100 cash prize! Tickets are available right here.

DJ GANT-MAN is an underground legend in the City of Chicago and known as a key innovator and pioneer of Ghetto House and Juke. He began mixing in the early 80s and has been at the forefront of the Chicago juke scene ever since. He learned to produce music from Paul Johnson, one of Chicago’s most prolific house DJs, and became known as the “youngest professional DJ” in the 90s and never looked back. He’s released some of the hottest juke tracks, and is the first artist to ever release a juke track on a major label with his remix of Beyonce’s “Check on It” ft. Slim Thug. Gant-Man is also the owner of the label, Bang Tha Box Recordings.

DJ FUNK – genre crossing and boundary breaking are just a few phrases to describe this ghetto-tech mastermind. He’s played all across the globe in some of the world’s most high profile clubs and venues, sharing the stage with some of music’s biggest stars such as, Daft Punk, Bad Boy Bill, Funk Master Flex, Qbert, and many others. He is the owner of the renowned record label, Dance Mania Records and a seasoned purveyor of raucous, jacking, ghetto house.

DJ GODFATHER was named #15 on the DJ Time Mag Top 100 DJs, as well as the Pioneer Pro DJ of 2011, and for good reason. His open format/mashup sets are a sight to be seen and heard, utilizing the battle style of turntablism for wild live sets with tunes ranging from electro-house to ghetto tech and everything in between.
